Every year we try and think of a new and creative birthday present to give to our friends or lived ones and struggle to match it each year. Gone are the days when just a birthday card will do, especially as celebrities and movie stars lavish their partners, friends and families with fantastic gifts which leave you feeling super jealous and competing with their money and your £10.

Here are a few overly priced gifts which we think should be banned from the Internet to stop our partner’s prying eyes from searching for ideas for what you could buy them for their birthday.

Diamond Ring – $16.26 million

A piece by Chopard which is absolutely stunning, but far too pricey. The Blue Diamond Ring features an enormous oval-shaped blue diamond with an 18k white gold band paved with diamonds. Oh and just so you know, Blue Diamonds are the most expensive in the world.

Mobile Phone – $2.4 million

Let us just clarify again that this is a mobile phone. The Australian jeweller Peter Aloisson thought it would be fun to jazz up the iPhone with high quality diamonds and gold. Integrated with 6.6 carat diamonds which cover every corner of the phone it is finished with a white gold line that contains approximately 138 finely shaped diamonds.

Car – $1.25 million

Only on planet earth would you find a car that is cheaper than a mobile phone. The Veyron from Bugatti is the most expensive car ever made. The engine features a W-16 with four turbochargers generating 1001 hp. Complete with all-wheel drive and a car that can reach 60 mph in 2.5 seconds; reaching the quarter mile in 10.5 seconds…we will just stick with our Ford!

Whatever type of gift you are buying for your loved one make sure you don’t forget a personalised card which always goes down a treat. If you are a bit strapped for cash why not consider viewing the free personalised cards available at ecards.co.uk today.

It’s January, and that meets a few different things. New Year’s Resolutions haven’t quite been forgotten yet, all that stuff you got for Christmas is still sitting outside of the box in the closet it’ll be in by March, and the major studios are offering absolute junk for the movie going public’s consumption. January and February historically get the bottom end of the crap that studios realized at the last minute they shouldn’t have made – 22 horror films, cheap children’s flicks, hairbrained Scary Movie producer created comedies. Of course for those of you with any kind of taste at all, please don’t forget all the last minute Oscar drops, those movies put into limited release on Decemeber 29th to get Oscar consideration. Pan’s Labyrinth, Children of Men – extremely good films that you shouldn’t miss.

But as for the rest of us that don’t get the benefit of the few small screens these films show up on, it’s a
long wait for the spring time and the promise of Summer’s Blockbusters. Here’s a quick rundown of the films to look forward to in the coming months:

January 26 – Saraphim Falls. Liam Neeson and Pierce Brosnan as cowboys in this action thriller set in the time of the civil war. Sounds like a blast to me.

February 16 – Ghost Rider. I know, it’s February and it’s a comic book movie, that’s never a good sign. They tend to dump the dredge bottom ends of comic book movies in February, Daredevil, Electra, The
Punisher, need I say more. But it is Ghost Rider, and it’s got Nicholas Cage. I’ll still hold out hope for a half way decent film

March 2 – Zodiac. Yeah, it’s another serial killer thriller, but it’s from the man who brought us Se7en and Fight Club, so it’s looking mighty strong as another twisted psychological throwdown. We’ll see in march

March 9 – 300. If you haven’t seen the trailer yet for this film go see it now. The latest adaptation of a Frank Miller comic into film, it retells the Battle of Thermopylae in which 300 Spartan warriors fought to the death against the Persian army inspiring all of Greece to rise up and fight. Highly stylized and incredibly cool looking, I’m hoping for something cool here.

March 16 – Sunshine. The newest film from 28 Days Later director Danny Boyle, this time around in space. Science Fiction fare along the lines of Solaris or 2001. The sun is dying and a ship is sent with the last remaining hope for mankind to find a solution. Looks interesting and Boyle hasn’t let me down yet.

March 23 – Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. I’m a child of the 80s, so I remember the Turtles as fond as anything from youth. The return of the Turtles to the big screen, this time without the clunky suits and with CGI. It looks slick, action packed, and darker than the previous ones. And no Vanilla Ice.

March 30 – Blades of Glory. Will Ferrell and Jon Heder as ice skaters at each other’s throats forced to compete together in doubles to return to the sport from which they were banned. Come on. How does that not sound funny

April 13 – Hot Fuzz. It’s in limited release, but will probably expand a week or two later. I’m excited not because it’s a police farce, but because it’s from Simon Pegg the guy behind and starring in Shaun of the Dead, one of my favorite Romantic Zombie Comedies of all time. These guys are comedic geniuses and therefore this will be a great movie.

May 4 – Spiderman 3. And the summer movie season begins. The most anticipated movie of the year hits it all off big in May with Spiderman 3. Tobey Maguire returns to battle Venom and Sandman and his own awkward balance between himself and his superhero identity. Repeat viewings will ensue

May 18 – Shrek the Third. Another trilogy completed two weeks later, Shrek 3 is a long time in coming and promises more of the gross out, fairy tale humor of its predecessors. Mike Meyers touches comedy and its gold. I can’t wait.

May 24 – Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End. And another trilogy completed. The second film was long winded and a bit campy, but ended on a cliffhanger and the promise of triplicate action and adventure in the finale.

June 8 – Ocean’s Thirteen. To be truthful I’m not a huge fan of the Ocean’s movie (hey is this another third film in a series…huh), but they’re always good popcorn fun to watch. I’m sure this will be no different.

June 22 – Stardust. One of my favorite author’s most endearing books hits the big screen in Stardust. Neil Gaiman is so ripe for film adaptation I can’t believe this is his first (Neverwhere was on BBC, not the big screen). Starring Robert Deniro and Claire Danes. A brilliant book, and hopefully a brilliant movie.

June 27 – Evan Almighty. The much hyped, much over budget, long awaited sequel to Bruce Almighty starring Steve Carrell as Evan, the jerk who took Bruce’s job in the first film. With Carrell’s trademark dry comedy and the promise of the film’s premise this could easily be one hell of a comedy.

June 29 – Ratatouille. Pixar kind of slipped a little with Cars, and now they’ve taken to producing new films ever 12 months which if I remember correctly preceded Disney’s decline in the 90s, but it’s a Brad Bird film, and for now I have to give Pixar the benefit of the doubt. Here’s hoping for more Pixar gold.

July 4 – Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. The sequel to the mediocre half focused original film. Cool trailer, superheroes, and the ever slick Silver Surfer. We’ll see how it turns out, but for now it looks enticing.

July 4 – Transformers. Two very big movies going at it the weekend of the fourth. This one looks mighty cool indeed. It’s a live action Transformers for the first time ever and its directed by Michael Bay, which normally would put me off of any film, but his eye for blowing the hell out of everything in sight might actually work for the epic battle between Decepticons and Autobots.

July 13 – Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix. Film number 5, probably coinciding with the release of the seventh book as well. It’s a getting to the end and the films are getting darker. I haven’t read the books at all, but the films have always been entertaining.

July 27 – The Simpsons Movie. It’s been 18 years since the Simpsons first debuted and they’re finally getting their big screen debut. I can only imagine what Groening has in store for us in this one. I actually can’t imagine what the Simpson family could possibly do that they haven’t already done in over 400 episodes

August 3 – The Bourne Ultimatum. The first two Bourne films were fun, frenetic, gritty spy movies, and here’s hoping for the same in the third. Matt Damon pulls of the spy part surprisingly well.

August 10 – Rush Hour 3. The combination of comedy and high flying action made the first two Rush Hour films amazing successes and after a few years of Chris Tucker asking for way too much money the third film is finally ready for release. I don’t imagine the action can be too overwhelming anymore. Jackie Chan’s starting to get up there, but I expect the same comedic pairing to between the two to carry the film.

The story linking Thomas Sangster to the Tintin Movie first appeared from what I can tell in the British press in the form of a story in the Daily Mail that later gained slightly more credence when it appeared in the better thought of Daily Telegraph.

The Telegraph wrote “Thomas Sangster, 17, who played the role of Liam Neeson’s step son in Love Actually, had originally sent an audition tape to the Hollywood director hoping to snare a role in The Talisman, a project which never got off the ground

Instead Spielberg realised he had found the boy who could play Tintin, the young adventurer created by Belgian cartoonist and writer Georges Prosper Remi, better known by his pen name of Herg

“Good Luck Charlie” is the latest show to be commissioned by Disney. In recent years Disney has become an expert at being able to create hit shows out of nothing and get huge audiences. All the signs point towards this show being the next “Hannah Montana” or “Wizards of Waverly Place” but what exactly is it about?

“Good Luck Charlie” concerns a 16 year old girl, Teddy Holliday, who looks after her younger sister Charlie (short for Charlotte) when her parents are not around. Trying to manage a family with busy careers, Teddy’s parents are rarely on the scene hence Teddy has to figure out how to resolve any problems that may arise. Fortunately, she is not alone. Joined by her brother

Yes the internet has changed the way we can do all kinds of things. This article will explain how you can watch all the latest movies online and the benefits of it.

Do you rent a lot of movies? Many people find themselves sitting in front of the television to watch a new release blockbuster. The movie industry is a huge business; the producers spend millions of dollars on movies; because they know that people are willing to go to the movies to watch them or spend money at the video places and even willing to spend money at the retail stores to purchase them. However we all know how expensive it can be to watch a movie.

So how can we begin watching all the movies we want without having to spend a fortune? It is possible to watch all the latest movies online without spending a lot of money. Guess what you can even build your movie collection without spending $20 on each and every movie that you add to your collection.

There are movie membership sites that you can join and gain access to all the movies you can watch. The one that I recommend and use is Net Movie Membership; it is a membership site that you pay a one time fee and gain access to a movie library that consists of thousands of movies from all sorts of genres. You can watch movies 24/7 regardless of what time of day it is.

Many people are realizing how much money this can save them. With the high cost of living it is nice to be able to save money on your entertainment.

However I recommend joining one that will not charge you every time you want to watch a movie. You also want to join one that will enable you to burn the movie; should you decide to add it to your movie collection. You will want to do your due diligence to see which sites offer this.

Once you pay for the membership site you will then be granted access to all the movies you want. You can begin downloading them onto your computer and begin watching them from anywhere in the world. This movie is neither the worst or best movie M. Night Shyamalan has made. The Happening is clearly as not as creepy or clever as it tries to be. The Happening takes place in M. Night Shyamalan’s home town of Philadelphia and follows a high school teacher (Mark Wahlberg) who is discussing with his students possible reasons for why all the honeybees have gone missing. He is interrupted by a fellow co-worker to go to a meeting. In this meeting we found out there has been a possible terrorist attack in Central Park.

However the critical thinking science teacher known as Eliot Moore (Wahlberg) is not buying the government’s explanation of a terrorist attack in Central Park. Elliot and his wife (Deschanel) and co-worker (John Leguizamo) decide to board a train to Pennsylvania however they don’t get that far when the train abruptly stops in a small town called Filbert. Confused of what is happening Elliot approaches the train drivers who tell him that they have lost contact with the outside world.

We later learn that it may be a chemical release by plants that is causing these terrible mass suicides to happen, and these suicides are done really well and is easily the best parts of the movie, from people jumping off roof tops to a lion pulling off a mans arms these scenes are great to watch however sadly this isn’t enough to stop the Happening from being pulled down by a bad script and equally bad acting by everyone involved. Wahlberg gives us a bad performance however he is nowhere as bad as his on film girl friend Zooey Deschanel who’s acting abilities can only be compared to a piece of wood, not only does she act bad but her facial expressions throughout the film stay the same and the ‘confused look’ does get tiresome very fast.

The Happening is neither great like the sixth sense nor really poor like the lady in the water, it sits in the middle, and the Happening is OK but offers nothing really special to get people to watch the movie. I award the Happening 3 stars out of 5.

Every year, there will be at least one or two big movies with licensed toys packing the shelves. These are the Hot Toys, the ones that every kid absolutely HAS to have.

Sometimes, these toys have a real lasting appeal. Some of us still treasure the memories of playing with our Ninja Turtles, or we still own our Jurassic Park dinosaurs (Geez, are we really parents already?!).

But then, there are some toys that come and go in the blink of an eye. These ones wind up in the bargain bin at the toy store a month after the film leaves theatres, and most kids lose interest just as quickly. Remember the movie Congo? Yeah, neither do the kids who owned all of the action figures way back when.

With licensed toys, the basic rule that applies to storytelling also applies to buying toys. The only characters that really matter are the ones that we’ll still remember years after seeing the movie. Even parents can name half the cast of Finding Nemo, we’ll probably always have a soft spot in our hearts for Wall-E, every single one of Jim Henson’s Muppets, and Indiana Jones. All of those properties had toys packing the shelves, and many of us still own our childhood favourites. The reason why is simple: Those were interesting, endearing characters. When movie producers make a film with dollar signs in their eyes, hoping to sell a lot of toys at the expense of telling a good story, you wind up with Joel Schumacher’s Batman & Robin, which tanked so bad, in both box office and toy sales, that the Batman movie franchise actually had to take a near decade-long hiatus.

We’re not saying you need to tell your kids what to like. Heck, some kids loved Batman & Robin, there’s nothing wrong with that. Get your kids what they like. Just bear in mind that a lot of the buzz and the hype surrounding these summer blockbusters is generated by the studios in hopes of suckering parents into buying junky toys that the kids probably won’t even like.

If there’s one piece of advice we can give on this subject; don’t buy your kids the toys until they’ve seen the movie.

It’s not uncommon for kids to see the commercials for a movie and say “That looks fun!” They ask for all the toys and even clip out the proof of purchase cards on the back of the packages and send away for the mail-order secret decoder ring. Then… they actually watch the movie, and… it winds up being kind of boring. They put all the toys in a box, put the box under the bed, and forget all about it. Then a month or two later, they get the decoder ring in the mail, and they say “what the heck is this?” You could name dozens of movies like this off the top of your head, if it weren’t for the fact that you’ve already forgotten that they exist!

That’s how it can be with hype sometimes. It’s easy to buy into, even when the characters the toymaker is selling aren’t really all that interesting. Character toys are all about coming up with new stories for your favourite fictional characters. If the characters are boring or clich

The latest and greatest in Miley Cyrus news is that the “Best of Both Worlds Tour” kicked off on October 18th to a packed house. All 54 tour dates are sold out and getting tickets is impossible without going to your friendly neighborhood ticket scalper. An acclaim to Miley’s popularity is that some arenas were sold out in less than 15 minutes.

On October 5th, Miley celebrated her 16th birthday (yes we know she won’t be 16 until November) at Disneyland. Disneyland closed their doors for the day and Miley celebrated with 2500 fans and friends. Some of the friends had paid $250.00 to join her in her birthday celebration. The celebration featured fireworks, sixteen giant inflatable candles and Miley doing a set of 4 songs for an enthralled audience.

Miley, contrary to all the rumors floating around has committed to at least one more season her 4th with Hannah Montana. This commitment has squelched the rumors of the star leaving after this season. The third season of Hannah Montana is in production right now and the Hannah Montana movie is due for release in April of 2009.

Miley and Disney are making plans for her to star in a feature length movie written by Nicholas Sparks. This movie won’t be Hannah Montana but will continue Miley’s transition from a ‘tween star to one that will attract more teens and young adults.

Miley’s latest and greatest album, “Breakout” has spent 12 weeks on the Billboard top 100. This album in which the songs were written by Miley appears to be the start of the transition away from the ‘tween age group. “Breakout” was the number one album at one time but has slipped to #35 on the Billboard charts.

Miley will be kept busy in the coming months with her latest and greatest concert tour, shooting of Hannah Montana and the preparation of a new movie.
