Everybody wants to make the most money as much as possible. It’s not being greedy, it’s being practical. People have to be smarter today, especially now that we’re experiencing recession. The least we can do is be smart when it comes to managing our finances. And of course, it would be easier for us to manage our finances, if we have a lot of finances to manage in the first place.

For some 18 year olds, this is a concern. They are out there to get the best jobs for 18 year olds available for them. If possible, they want to bag the highest paying. When they do, they’re sure to give their best so that this assures them a job after graduating college.

Tip: Know What You Want

The main features to consider when buying an elliptical are:

Stride – Stride length is the furthest distance between the pedals during the elliptical motion. Strides on elliptical machines range from 12 – 21 inches. A longer stride gives you a better workout as it more fully works your legs.

The proper stride length can also make your workout more comfortable. Most people are fine with an 18″-20″ stride. Taller users or those who really like to go fast may prefer a 20″ or even a 21″ stride.

Resistance – Resistance is how hard your legs have to push during the elliptical motion. Resistance gives you a challenge when exercising. It can also help you increase your calories burned on your crosstrainer.

Most elliptical trainers do offer a range of resistance levels. Look for a trainer that makes resistance changes easy (i.e. one-touch resistance adjustment).

Incline – Incline changes the ramp and angle of the elliptical motion and is a great way to crosstrain. Incline was originally introduced by Precor in the 1990′s. However you don’t have to spend $3000+ on a Precor to get incline. Nowadays, incline is being offered in several more affordable brands.

Smoothness of Elliptical Ride – This can be influenced by many things but a few features to look at are the weight of the flywheel (a heavier one gives a more smooth, commercial grade feel), foot pads (i.e. some trainers use articulating footpedals which follow the motion of your foot) and alignment between arms and legs. In general, the higher end ellipticals offer better alignment and an overall smoother ride.

Stability – This means the elliptical doesn’t wobble or shake when you pick up your pace. Cheaper ellipticals often tend to sway or even creak when you really push them.

Again, price is a factor – the higher end machines feel much more stable. Other things to look at are machine weight (a higher weight machine will usually feel more solid than a lighter machine) and user weight capacity (a higher weight capacity machine will also feel more stable than a lower weight capacity, other things being equal).

Footprint – This is the width and length of your elliptical. If space is limited in your home, make sure to consider the footprint before you buy. You may want to consider a folding elliptical. Ellipticals that fold up used to be hard to find but are becoming more popular.

You may also want to look at a center drive elliptical (where there are 2 smaller flywheels on the side verses one large flywheel at the front or back of the machine). These tend to be more compact than standard ellipticals

Fun Stuff – This can be anything from iPod docks, console speakers, personal trainer designed workouts, built-in TVs, etc. This may not seem as important as the other stuff. But they help you enjoy your workout time. When you enjoy using your elliptical, you’ll use it more often and get more out of it.

So those are a few things to consider when looking at elliptical ratings. Finding the best rated elliptical can give you a great idea of which trainers are well built. But that doesn’t mean it’s always the best elliptical for you.

Take your time and do your research. Keep the things above in mind when choosing your elliptical – and you’ll find it much easier to choose the best machine for you.

Good cameras are exactly like that. The complex professional cameras have features and functionality that you really need to understand to take advantage of. If you don’t know what and aperture is, or have a basic understanding of field of depth and color matching, then just stick with the point and shoot cameras. They do much of the thinking for you.

If however, your serious, and have a passion, and have spent time AND money upgrading your skills and knowledge, then it’s time to invest in some good photography equipment. Before you make that purchase, be sure you understand the camera technology available. Also make sure you know what you want in the context of that technology. MTV’s reality show, The Hills, is a money making machine. Recent reports claim Lauren Conrad earns $75,000 per episode and she deserves every penny of it. The Hills is MTV’s top rated television show that follows a core group of friends around while they go on with their lives in Los Angeles, CA.

Although the show is categorized as a reality show, there is plenty of acting by the cast. This is important because they always seem to highlight new restaurants and clubs in Los Angeles, which isn’t a coincidence. These establishments are paying top dollar to appear on The Hills to create buzz for their establishment. Even the companies that the cast “work” for get heavy press from appearing on The Hills and you better believe they have invested money to be there. How many people have actually heard of The Bolthouse if it weren’t for The Hills? What about People’s Republic?

In addition to businesses across Los Angeles, clothing lines are lining up to dress the hot cast. Imagine how far a new company’s public relations efforts could go if one of their pieces appeared on LC, Audrina, Lo, or Whitney during the show!

As I mentioned earlier, The Hills is the highest rated show on MTV. This means they are claiming top advertising dollar for the precious slots on the 30 minute episodes. This means no free ringtones advertisements on Monday nights on MTV.

With all the money this show is making, I’m surprised they haven’t made The Hills a weekly 60 minute show.

African American movies have often focused on the troubling history of blacks in America. As most people know, Africans were taken from their homeland and transported to the United States where they were forced to work as unpaid laborers and were frequently abused and subjected to inhumane treatment. It was not until Abraham Lincoln composed his famous Emancipation Proclamation in 1863 that slaves were officially set free.

Although African Americans were considered free under the law, many US states (most of them in the south) continued to discriminate against black people and treated them as second-class citizens. In fact, Jim Crow laws were established in many southern states with the tacit intention of keeping whites separate from blacks.

This meant that whites and blacks were forced to attend separate schools, drink from different water fountains and even had to eat in different restaurants. This unequal treatment was not seriously challenged until Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat to a white person on a bus in Montgomery, Alabama in 1955. This single seminal event put in motion the civil rights movement, which was spearheaded by exceptional human beings like the Reverend Martin Luther King Jr.

Many African American movies have chronicled the experiences of blacks in American and have attempted to make sense of the discrimination that they have suffered. One of the most popular African American movies was called Roots. The movie was actually one of the first miniseries to appear on network television and it remains one of the highest-rated programs in network history. The program would go on to win nine Emmy awards as well as a number of Golden Globes and Peabody Wards.

The movie tells the story of an African warrior named Kunta Kinte who is taken from his home and forced to work on an American plantation. The series follows the protagonist for several generations until his great grandchildren finally gain their independence after the Civil War.

To this day Roots ranks as one of the most respected African American DVDs. Perhaps that is because it centers on an oppressed group of people fighting for their freedom, which is clearly a universal theme. The miniseries was based on a book by renowned author and journalist Alex Haley

Nowadays, however, most African American movies no longer focus on slavery or even on the civil rights movement. Rather, they concern themselves with the plight of blacks in urban environments. These movies tend to portray characters that are surrounded by drugs and crimes and are desperately trying to fight their way out of the ghetto.

One of the most powerful African American DVDs of the past twenty years was the film “Boyz n the Hood”. This movie tells the story of a young man who is trying to survive on the violent streets of South Central, Los Angeles. The film is set in the early Nineteen Nineties when violent gangs roamed the streets of the city and young men frequently turned up dead for no other reason than that they were wearing the wrong color clothes. The movie remains a powerful example of the seemingly intractable problems in the African American community.
